About The Event:

The Make-A-Wish Triathlon at Sea Colony is an exciting 1.5K ocean swim, 40K bike and 10K run for up to 1,000 athletes. Hosted in Bethany Beach, Del., the event is in its 25th year. Athletes can compete as an individual or a member of a relay team.

The ocean swim, scenic bike and run courses and phenomenal post-race picnic make this race a favorite among both seasoned triathletes and weekend warriors. This race is approved by the National Triathlon series as a 2008 Delaware state qualifier.

The 2008 course has been confirmed. 

Fees:

Registration is $125 There is no pledge requirement this year, however we encourage all triathletes to raise funds to help the Foundation pursue its mission of fulfilling the wishes of children battling life-threatening medical conditions.

The Swim:

The route will always make an effort to swim with any current, thus the route will be either from the north or from the south. Both will end at the Annapolis House condo unit. The route is a rectangle with a short out loop, a turn to swim parallel to beach and a final turn to head to beach and finish which is designated by an inflatable, red finish line structure. Then it is up the beach, over the timing mats, through the post-swim showers and into the transition area.

The Bike:

Leave Sea Colony at the north entrance, crossing Pennsylvania Avenue, continue westbound on Jefferson Bridge Road, crossing Coastal Highway (SR 1, DE1) and continue to Kent Avenue.  Turn left onto Kent Avenue (CR 361), continue over the bridge, and turn left onto Double Bridges Road (CR 363).  Continue on Double Bridges Road to Bayard Road (CR 84) and a left turn onto Bayard Road.  Follow Bayard Road, through Bayard to Johnson, where it becomes Johnson Road (CR 384). Follow Johnson Road to Lighthouse Road (SR 54, CR 58) and turn right on Lighthouse Road. Go to Hudson Road (CR 387) and turn right, follow to Gum Road (CR 392) and  turn left, crossing over Roxana Road (SR 17, CR 52), and continue to Shockley Town Road (CR 375).  Turn right on Shockley Town Road, follow to Pyle Center Road (SR 20, CR 382) and turn right.  Follow Pyle Center Road to Daisey Road (CR 370) and turn left. Stay on Daisey Road, crossing over Roxana Road (SR 17, CR 52) until you get to Bayard Road (CR 84). Turn left on Bayard Road and follow to Double Bridges Road.  Turn right on to Double Bridges Road and follow to Kent Avenue.  Turn right on to Kent Avenue, continue to Jefferson Bridge Road.  Right turn onto Jefferson Bridge Road, continue, crossing Coastal Highway (SR 1, DE 1) and Pennsylvania Avenue to the finish line at Sea Colony.

The Run:

Leave the transition area and head south along Pennsylvania Avenue which becomes Routh 1 South. There is a U-turn prior to the Kinds Grant development and the return and finish is on Pennsylvania Avenue. There will be three aid station on the run, and a timing mat at the turn around.
